ACADEMICS: Mythology Students Research Aztec Culture
Ms. Valerie Coppinger's Intro to Mythology class has been studying Aztec Myths. They recently created some headdresses to celebrate the rich culture and traditions.
"The headdress was one of the central pieces that completed the outfit of some of the more important people. It symbolized not only an addition to the wearer’s style but the status of the wearer as well. The actual making of the headdresses themselves was an ingrained part of the culture.
A headdress was not to be worn by an average person, and there were official laws to ensure certain designs were made only for specific dignitaries. It was by the way of a dress and ornaments that the citizen’s status was measured, and one of the most important items in person’s wardrobe was a headdress (zoesaadia 2015)."

An Important Request - Impact Aid Survey Form
Each year, the federal government requires that we survey our student population to identify how many military or federal employee dependents we serve. This number determines a large portion of our funding each year.
We distributed Impact Aid forms on blue paper to all students during their third period class today (Thursday, November 16th). Students who were absent today will receive the form when they return to school. The federal government requires that we have a completed form for every student; so, if you have more than one child who is a student in Richland School District Two, then you will need to submit the form separately for each child. Also, the government requires that each form be completed in ink, and includes the parents' signature and date.
If you have questions regarding the form, then please contact Mrs. Mobley at (803) 699-2999, extension 84209 or Melissa Myers at mmyers@richland2.org. Your cooperation is very greatly appreciated, since it will help us to better serve your student. With your help, we can achieve full funding for this school year. Click the image to print and complete the 2017-18 Impact Aid Survey form.
